Over 100 years ago a group of adventurous folks found a spit of land out on a point on Fish River Lake in Maine’s beautiful North Maine Woods. They erected a series of cabins along the shorefront of the lake at a spot known as Moose Point. Today sits one of the most quaint, remote sporting camps in America and it is being offered for the first time in 3 decades.
Between 1938 & today, a traditional Maine Sporting camp has been operated along the shoreline called Moose Point Camps. These 10 camps have hosted families both local and from far away for their vacations, hunting and fishing trips & remote wilderness therapy that can only be found in the north woods of Maine. After 28 years of operation the owner has decided to take some respite himself from the hard work of running this sporting camp to retirement. The 15 building sporting camp, its equipment, furnishings & business is now offered for sale.
Moose Point Camps is located on leased land. Like multiple other sporting camp operation on public & private land, this sporting camp has been in a ease configuration for over 85 years. With a cooperative agreement & lease between the landowner a new operator of the camps a new lease may be established for several more decades.
Maine has an incredibly unique manner in classifying the unorganized townships in the 10 million acres of northern Maine. Moose Point Camps are in Township 13, Range 8. The lease with the camps has over 2000 feet of frontage on pristine Fish River Lake, a four-mile-long body of water with the Fish River running out of the north end of the lake. Fish River Falls is spectacular with good fishing, hiking and sightseeing.
